Selected crystal for Hi-end audio, AS338

Two AS338 Hi-End audio oscillators from Accusilicon.

In order to meet the strict requirements, each crystal is packaged with nitrogen gas, and 100% checked by a phase noise analyzer.

Its phase noise and short-term stability are far ahead of similar products.

The jitter is as low as 38fs, which greatly improves the bass quality, and brings a more natural sound.

The power supply of clock is based on LT3045-a high-performance low dropout linear regulator, whose RMS Noise is only 0.8uVRMS (10Hz to 100kHz).

In the CPLD for signal processing, the isolated IIS signal is reshaped to remove the jitter introduced by the isolator.

Gustard's second-generation ultra-low noise clock synthesis technology can be connected to an external 10M frequency constant temperature clock. The K2 clock module can synthesize the 10M frequency with its extremely low loss into the main clock required for audio.

It is then processed, corrected if necessary and jitter is removed by an Altera MAX II CPLD. To generate an extremely accurate clock signal, the U18 uses two Accusilicon AS338 oscillators with a jitter of only 38fs and a Gustard K2 ultra low noise clock synthesizer. Moreover, the power supply of the clocks is done by a LT3045 linear regulator with a noise level of only 0.8µVrms. The power supply stage uses a large custom toroidal transformer, optimized for audio use.

Excellent Performance & Wide Compatibility

For its audio outputs, the Gustard U18 offers Toslink Optical, Coaxial, AES and I2S via HDMI. On this last output, it supports high-resolution audio streams up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. Moreover, the I2S pinout is configurable in 4 modes to adapt to most devices on the market. Finally, we note the presence of an MCLK input and WCK output on BNC.
