A J Bass As Unique As the Artist It’s Designed For Laura Lee Ochoa is not only the bass player, but she also serves as a vocalist and founding member of Khruangbin, an electric guitar trio that blends diverse world music influences into an exotic, difficult-to-categorize hybrid genre that’s completely unique. Built to Laura’s exacting specifications, the Fender limited-edition Laura Lee Jazz Bass features a custom U-profile maple neck designed to facilitate the bassist’s equally unique playing style, which employs a left-hand muting technique borrowed from the double bass. Key to Laura’s sound are a pair of DiMarzio Ultra Jazz DP149 hum-cancelling pickups with stacked concentric controls. Other features include a classic J Bass offset-waist alder body, a rosewood fingerboard with a modern 9.5-inch radius, and vintage-style bridge/pickup covers.
